We bought this ram from the WVU dispersal as a ram lamb. He\'s in NSIP and has pretty good numbers and we had him DNA tested so we know he\'s RR for scrapie resistance. He\'s very calm and well mannered for a ram. He has always been healthy and rarely has needed dewormed, even though we have a small property so the parasite pressure is high even with rotations. We don\'t feed a lot of grain so he\'s currently fat on grass and hay, but ready to breed. We have used him for the past two years so it\'s time for him to move on. He has beautiful pigmentation and a nice head as well as generally good texel conformation.

This young lad was reserve champion at our county fair for the spring ram lamb division. He is solid and has tons of room to grown and fill out. Perfect for adding that Texel influence to any flock.

Loin Eyes Left to Right: smallest 3.20 to 4.48. All Lambs born from March 2 to April 23, 2025. All Sired by NSIP Portland Prairie rams “George Washington” and “Thomas Jefferson” both RR rams, so lambs will be QR at least, if not RR. I have never had CL, foot rot, or OPP. The flock is raised strictly on grass in the 30-acre solar site pasture on our farm where they rotationally graze. These lambs have thrived on pastured all summer long, they haven’t had any grain in months…more profit for all of us. I had 170 Texels at our high point this year. Please contact me for NSIP numbers, Scan data, and more photos. Check out our website www.halbursheavenlyhill.com and Facebook page “Halbur’s Heavenly Hill” https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556978938130 I have been raising Texels starting with Crossbred Texels since 1993. I have been breeding for the biggest loin eyes and focusing on large rear leg muscles (where the best meat cuts are). I pay close attention to lambing ease, good mothers, and amazing growth on only GRASS! I collect A LOT of data. My entire 2025 lamb crop’s average adjusted loin eye area was 3.29 (94 lambs). The average adjusted loin eye area at the National Texel Show & Sale in 2025 was 3.01. This isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison because my Texels were raised on grass, no grain all grazing season! And these aren’t just my best; this is the whole lamb crop! To compare my WHOLE 2025 lamb crop to British Texels: -Please note this is not an apples-to-apples comparison because my lambs were about 8.5 pounds heavier than the British Texel weight at scanning and about 6 weeks older but it gives some perspective. -My Muscle Depth/Loin Depth is 32.2 mm where the 10 year British average depth is 28.2 mm, mine are 4mm bigger. -My lambs fat depth was less than the British 2.6 mm versus my 2.1 mm which probably is due to my flock being grass based, so they are lean….lean growing machines on grass.
